☀️ Mother’s Day Forecast: Heat, Wind, and Waves

While it’s a celebratory day, the National Weather Service is signaling that "Mom" is bringing a bit of intensity to the islands today.

🌡️ The Heat is On

  • Low 90s: Expect temperatures to hit the low 90s in urban and coastal areas.

  • 100°F+ Index: With the humidity, it’s going to feel like triple digits. If you’re taking Mom to an outdoor brunch, find a spot with a strong fan or a direct line to the trade winds.

💨 Breezy Conditions

  • Trade Winds: We’re looking at a fresh easterly flow between 15 and 20 knots, with higher gusts near the coast.

  • Passing Showers: Don’t let a quick clouds-and-rain burst ruin the day; these "trade wind showers" will be fast-moving. You’ll get a 5-minute soak followed by immediate sunshine.

🏖️ Beach & Marine Alert

  • Moderate Rip Current Risk: If the family is heading to the north or east-facing beaches of St. Croix, stay vigilant. The breezy winds are kicking up the surf, making rip currents a real possibility.

  • Choppy Seas: For the boaters, expect seas between 3 and 5 feet. It’s a bit "choppy" out there, so small crafts should exercise caution.
