LAUGHING AT THE BASSIN TRIANGLE: Within Steps of Police HQ, a Reinforced Pipe Proves Proximity is Not Protection

While the Territory celebrates the peace of Mother’s Day, a brutal Tuesday morning assault on a tourist, where the suspect allegedly walked away laughing, exposes the critical safety gap just outside the VIPD’s Christiansted headquarters.

CHRISTIANSTED — The "Acoustic Symphony" of Frederiksted gunfire wasn’t the only alert that should have prioritized St. Croix’s public safety dockets this week.

The St. Croix Sun has confirmed that a male visitor, exploring the territory just steps from the VIPD’s Ancilmo Marshall Command at the Bassin Triangle, was brutally struck in the neck with a reinforced PVC pipe—a weapon found "at hand" on the street and used to commit a violent assault under the very nose of law enforcement.

In a chilling detail that has horrified witnesses, the suspect allegedly didn’t flee, but walked away laughing, while his victim collapsed on the sidewalk.

While other media buried the proximity of the attack, the Sun’s "boots on the ground" report confirms the question the Boardwalk mimosas can't answer: If a tourist isn't safe outside a police station, where are they safe?
