Shots Ring Out Near Frederiksted Fire Station; CIB Investigates

FREDERIKSTED — The pre-dawn quiet of Queen Street was shattered early Saturday morning by a volley of gunfire, prompting a rapid response from both technology and local law enforcement.
The Virgin Islands Police Department confirmed that the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center was flooded with alerts at approximately 4:05 a.m.. The notifications included multiple hits from the ShotSpotter detection system, supplemented by several frantic calls from residents reporting shots fired near the Frederiksted Fire Station.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding VIPD officers discovered multiple spent shell casings littered across the area. While the physical evidence of a firefight was clear, the VIPD reported no suspects or known injured.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has taken the lead on the case. This incident adds another layer of urgency to the "Mars Hill Manifesto" investigative series, as the community continues to press for transparency regarding the uptick in local violence.
