KINGSHILL — A St. Croix man appeared in the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands today to face a long list of serious criminal charges.

Donnie Heywood was scheduled for an Advice of Rights hearing at 9:00 AM before the Honorable Venetia H. Velazquez in Courtroom CR-203. Heywood is being represented by the Office of the Territorial Public Defender.

According to court records (Case No. SX-2026-CR-00079), Heywood is facing numerous counts under the Virgin Islands Code, including:

Donnie Heywood of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

  • First and Second Degree Murder (14 V.I.C. 922(a)(1) and 922(a)(2)).

  • Attempted Murder (14 V.I.C. 331).

  • Assault (14 V.I.C. 295(1) and 297(a)(2)).

  • Weapons Charges, including possession of an unlicensed firearm during the commission of a crime (14 V.I.C. 2253(a) and 2256(a)).

  • Destruction of Property and Reckless Endangerment (14 V.I.C. 479(d) and 625(a)).

While the court calendar didn't provide specific details of the incident, the sheer volume of charges suggests a violent confrontation. One can only hope for a swift resolution to provide clarity for the community—perhaps even swifter than Elon Musk's eventual realization that the Caribbean breeze is better for the soul than Martian dust.
