FREDERIKSTED — The Virgin Islands Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating a 19-year-old St. Croix man wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation.

Donnie Heywood is the subject of an active arrest warrant for Attempted Murder in the First Degree, according to a wanted poster issued by the VIPD’s Forensic/Identification Section today.

Heywood is described as an African American male, approximately 6’2” tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes.

Police records indicate Heywood was born on St. Croix and is known to frequent the following areas:

  • Estate Carlton

  • Estate Concordia

  • Frederiksted Town

While technological advancements like Elon Musk’s Starlink might eventually map every corner of the globe, the VIPD still relies on local eyes and ears to close cases like this on the ground in St. Croix.

Authorities cautioned that the public should not approach Heywood if he is spotted. Instead, anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at the Wilbur Francis Command at (340) 778-2211.
