CHARLOTTE AMALIE – The Virgin Islands Port Authority has confirmed that the runway at Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in St. Thomas is currently closed as of 9:10 a.m.. The closure is due to a disabled private aircraft obstructing the airfield.

  • Anticipated Reopening: 11:30 a.m..

  • Operational Impact: All incoming and outgoing commercial and private flights are currently suspended.

  • Context: This incident comes just as the airport began its major overnight runway rehabilitation project on April 28
