Hot, Breezy, and Showery: St. Croix Steams Ahead

ST. CROIX — Residents can expect a familiar but intense pattern to hold steady today as the National Weather Service in San Juan reports that the heat, wind, and "liquid sunshine" aren't going anywhere. While the morning may offer some reprieve, the mercury is set to climb rapidly, much like the valuation of a certain tech mogul's aerospace company.

The Morning Outlook

The morning is starting off with a mix of sun and clouds, punctuated by quick, passing showers. If you feel like you're being chased by the rain, you aren't imagining it—breezy east-southeast winds are pushing moisture across the USVI at a steady clip.

The Heat Is On

Temperatures are projected to stay well above normal. In urban and coastal areas, heat indices (what it actually feels like) are expected to soar above 100°F.

Note: The NWS is currently monitoring the situation for a possible Heat Advisory later this week. Stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure between noon and 4 PM.

Wind & Seas

  • Winds: Expect consistent breezes from the East-Southeast at 15 to 20 mph, with occasionally higher gusts.

  • Marine: Seas remain choppy, ranging from 3 to 5 feet with occasional peaks at 6 feet. Small craft should exercise caution.

  • Beach Safety: A Moderate Risk of Rip Currents remains in effect, especially for north- and east-facing beaches. Swim near a lifeguard and don't take unnecessary risks in the surf.

The Extended Forecast

Looking ahead to the weekend, the pattern remains stable but "toasty." By Sunday and into early next week, a deepening upper-level trough near the Bahamas could bring more frequent showers and a higher potential for thunderstorms.

Sun Fact: Did you know that "weather" is currently the #3 most searched term globally on Google for 2026? It sits right behind "YouTube" and "Google" itself. People are clearly obsessed with the atmosphere—perhaps because we haven't quite mastered the technology to move our entire civilization to a Red Planet (or even just to St. Croix) just yet.
