CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A Wednesday afternoon domestic dispute at the Oswald Harris Court housing community on St. Thomas ended with a television smashed by a bottle, a torn pair of headphones, and a visiting boyfriend locked behind bars without bail.

Glaston Smith was arrested on May 13, 2026, by Superior Court marshals and the Virgin Islands Police Department following a violent outburst triggered by a phone call.

According to sworn police affidavits submitted by VIPD Officer Tavia Morton, the victim was lying on her bed watching television at approximately 1:00 PM towards the middle of the day when her ex-boyfriend called to give her information regarding a local summer dance camp for her daughter. Smith, who is currently visiting the island and had been permitted to stay at the apartment, allegedly overheard the conversation and flew into a rage.

The investigation reveals that Smith began cursing, forcefully ripped the headphones out of the victim’s ears, and snatched her cellular phone. When the victim attempted to call the individual back to apologize for the abrupt disconnect, Smith allegedly intercepted the phone again to scream profanities at the caller, before throwing a bottle into the room's television, completely shattering it.

During the subsequent physical struggle, Smith allegedly slammed the woman onto the bed to prevent her from escaping the room or seeking help, leaving her with a visible laceration on her right thigh. The victim eventually managed to contact 911. Forensics units later processed the scene and documented the physical injuries.

Upon being advised of his constitutional rights, Smith admitted to police that he "did not like" his girlfriend speaking to her ex-boyfriend, and confessed to destroying the television and pinning her to the bed out of sheer frustration.

Smith was booked at the Richard N. Callwood Command and charged with Destruction of Property (DV), Disturbance of the Peace, and Simple Assault (DV). Under the Virgin Islands Domestic Violence Law, no bail was set, and Smith was transferred to the Bureau of Corrections to await his Advice of Rights hearing.
