ST. CROIX — A Sunday night at one of the island's premier resorts turned violent, leading to the arrest of a 50-year-old guest on domestic violence charges.

The Incident

At approximately 9:42 p.m. on April 19, 2026, a female guest at the Carambola Beach Resort contacted the 911 Emergency Call Center to report a physical assault in her hotel room.

Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) detectives arrived to find the victim with visible injuries to her face and neck. The subsequent investigation identified the suspect as Matthew Gregg.

Legal Proceedings

Gregg was arrested and officially charged with Assault Second Degree (DV). In accordance with Virgin Islands domestic violence statutes, no bail was set at the time of booking.

The suspect has been remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Superior Court.
