ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man and registered sex offender is facing multiple criminal counts in the St. Thomas-St. John Superior Court following a violent domestic dispute at the Paul M. Pearson Garden complex that left a pregnant mother and a grandmother injured.

Winston Jarvis was arrested by detectives with the VIPD Domestic Violence Unit and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing at the Magistrate Court in Barbel Plaza. He stands charged with two counts of Disturbance of the Peace, two counts of Simple Assault (Domestic Violence), and Reckless Endangerment.

According to a sworn probable cause fact sheet filed by Police Detective Anisha Smith-Winston, the incident unfolded on Tuesday, May 22, 2026, when patrol officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at Building 9 of the housing community.

The victim, Ms. Malaliz Woodard—who is several months pregnant—reported that she and Jarvis share an active, court-ordered visitation schedule for their two minor children, ages 3 and 4. Woodard stated she had waited for Jarvis earlier that morning, but when he failed to show, she departed for an OBGYN appointment.

The encounter turned volatile later that afternoon when Woodard and her mother, Maritza Williams, returned to the complex. As they approached the building, Jarvis reportedly followed them, shouting demands to see his children.

When Woodard attempted to open a building gate so her mother could take their 3-year-old daughter inside to use the restroom, Jarvis allegedly shoved the grandmother, causing her to lose her balance and fall backward onto the concrete stairs. When Woodard intervened to protect her mother, Jarvis allegedly struck the pregnant woman multiple times in the stomach with a closed fist.

Court documents state that during the physical struggle, Jarvis successfully pulled the minor daughter away from her grandmother, placed her into a white GMC Envoy, and fled the area, prompting an emergency 911 call. Woodard complained of acute stomach pain at the scene but initially deferred immediate medical transport.

The investigation was immediately forwarded to the VIPD Domestic Violence Unit. Forensic technicians subsequently photographed abrasions to Woodard’s forearms and documented leg injuries sustained by the grandmother. Woodard later provided a recorded video statement to detectives, affirming that Jarvis was fully aware of her pregnancy prior to launching the physical assault.

Jarvis was taken into custody on Friday afternoon when he returned to the police station to drop off the minor child. While Jarvis admitted to "tensing up his fist" during an argument, he denied striking either woman, claiming instead that Woodard had attacked him while he was acting under the purview of their child visitation order.
