KINGSHILL - A St. Croix woman faces multiple domestic violence felony charges following an alleged late-night June home invasion on St. Thomas where she is accused of breaking into a former partner's residence with an accomplice and attempting to strangle him.
Zyann Calixte, 26, was taken into custody on Monday, July 6, 2026, by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau. She appeared before Magistrate Judge Christopher M. Timmons, Sr. in the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands on Tuesday for her advice of rights and arraignment.
According to court and police records, the charges stem from an incident on or about June 23, 2026, in the Hospital Ground residential area of Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. The prosecution alleges that Calixte unlawfully entered the dwelling of a former intimate partner while a lawful occupant was present. The standard criminal information filed by the Virgin Islands Department of Justice indicates that Calixte was assisted by an unidentified co-conspirator who was present at the scene.
Once inside the residence, Calixte allegedly launched a physical assault against the victim. Court records state that she willfully strangled or attempted to strangle the victim and repeatedly punched and scratched him across his face, neck, and arms. The encounter resulted in visible injuries to the victim.
The formal long-form information, signed by Criminal Division Chief William A. Appleton Jr. on behalf of Attorney General Gordon C. Rhea, charges Calixte with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, aggravated assault and battery, simple assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. All assault and burglary counts carry domestic violence enhancements under Virgin Islands law.
During Tuesday's hearing at the R.H. Amphlett Leader Justice Center, Judge Timmons found probable cause for all five criminal counts. Assistant Attorney General Dellon Dellop represented the prosecution, while attorney Allyson Croxton was obtained to represent Calixte.
Judge Timmons set Calixte’s bail at $75,000. Under the ordered conditions, she may be released from custody upon posting $5,000 in cash and securing the remaining $70,000 through property. Calixte will be required to reside with an approved third-party custodian at a designated address and must adhere to all terms stipulated in her pretrial release order.
A scheduling order issued by the court notes that the criminal case has been assigned to Judge Ernest E. Morris, Jr. for subsequent proceedings. Calixte and her legal counsel have been ordered to appear for a formal discovery conference on October 21, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 211
