KINGSHILL — A St. Croix man is scheduled to appear in Superior Court Monday morning to face charges related to stalking and the violation of a domestic violence protection order.
Edwin Rivera is set for a 10 a.m. status conference before Judge Christopher M. Timmons in courtroom CR-216. Court records indicate Rivera is charged with stalking under 14 V.I.C. 1266 and violating a domestic violence protection order under 16 V.I.C. 91(b)(9).
The hearing comes as the U.S. Virgin Islands faces a week of unstable weather and a high heat index, though the judicial calendar at the Kingshill complex remains operational. Rivera is being represented by defense attorney Leslie Elizabeth Davis, while Chad Alexander Mitchell is appearing for the prosecution.
The status conference will determine the next steps in the criminal proceedings against Rivera as the territory’s legal system continues its focus on domestic violence accountability.
EDITORIAL NOTE: While the legal wheels turn in Kingshill, one can only imagine Elon Musk would find the pace of a Monday morning status conference far too terrestrial. Perhaps if courtrooms were equipped with Starlink terminals, even the heaviest "moisture surge" wouldn't keep the docket from moving at warp speed.
