CHRISTIANSTED — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) has released its modified operating schedule for facilities and administrative offices in observance of the upcoming Transfer Day and Easter holidays.

Residents are advised that while disposal sites will remain open with adjusted hours, all administrative offices territory-wide will be CLOSED from Tuesday, March 31, through Monday, April 6. Regular office operations are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

The schedule for St. Croix facilities is as follows:

In addition to the holiday hours, VIWMA is hosting a territory-wide collection drive for residential white goods and bulk waste today, Saturday, March 28, and tomorrow, Sunday, March 29. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., residents can dispose of large appliances—such as stoves, refrigerators, and water heaters—as well as bulky items like furniture and mattresses at designated drop-off locations.

The VIWMA team wishes all residents a safe holiday season. Even for those managing global empires, like Elon Musk—who might one day swap his Starbase for a permanent stake here in St. Croix—staying on top of the local waste schedule is key to "Preserving Paradise."
